100 % Cashmere
At Soft Goat, we started our sustainability journey in 2016 and the most important thing to us when it comes to sustainability is transparency and we believe in openness throughout the production chain for a sustainable future.
We have developed a Code of Conduct together with the sustainability agency U&We, which have been signed by most of the factories we work with, we are currently working together with last factories to sign it. This is to ensure that our factories and suppliers can live up to our demands. A Code of Conduct makes it easier for our subcontractors to know what we expect from them.
The choice of our raw material is the core of our company. It is important for us that animal husbandry is fairly maintained since our raw material comes from living animals. We make sure to only work with nomadic herders and farmers who take well care of their goats. Professionals who only work with gathering comes to the farms when it is time to gather the cashmere wool. They trim the goats one at a time and they are usually two or three people trimming one goat to minimize the time and stress for the goat. While visiting one farm on our last trip to China, two of the men trimming the goats told us that they like to take naps together with the goats, we thought that was very cute.
All yarn Soft Goat uses are OEKO-TEX® certified. This means that our products hold the standard in regards of harmful substances for textile and clothing manufacturers and have high human ecology requirements. As a customer, you can always feel safe when purchasing and wearing our products.
It is important to Soft Goat that the products are available to as many people possible and that they create opportunities for others.
